On this tour you will enter the undergrounds of Iceland and hike up to the famous Hengill Volcano area.
The journey starts with exploring the many lava caves around Bláfjöll mountain range, where you will find out how the caves are formed and learn all about the geological formations. After exploring the deep caves you will hike up to the Hengill geothermal area (an easy hike) to enjoy the bubbling mud pools and sizzling hot springs. The hike continues through the Smokey Valley (Reykjadalur), where it is possible to dip your toes into a natural bath in a warm stream – just lovely!
Please Note: The trip is suitable for most people but in order to finish a round trip in the lava cave, people must be ready to crawl and bend down for a short distance.
