Minke whales and some harbour porpoises

12.Apr 2015

Tour @9am

This morning the wind was slow, from the east, and the sea was calm as we headed north west out on the bay. We had only sailed for a short while when we heard of a minke whale to the south so our captain changed the course to south west.

Soon we saw one minke whale coming up several times for air. In the vicinity we then found, one after the other, three more minke whales and some harbour porpoises.

Tour @1pm

This time the course was set west to the area where we saw the minke whales during the morning excursion. They were not to be found so we enlarged the search aera heading north west. At this time the wind was increasing and it started snowing slightly.

We changed course to the north east and shortly after it stopped snowing.

The course was altered to east and we continued searching an aera further to the north than the route we went on the way out.

Since marine mammals did not show on this excursion our passengers were offered a complimentary booking.
