We started sailing out on another winter day here in Iceland. Some snow was still visible on the mountain areas around us, and here and then some sun looked through the clouds creating a beautiful light. Reaching Faxafloi’s feeding grounds, all of us keep the eyes peeled to the water surface to detect any signs of whales and dolphins around us. Suddenly something black appeared a bit in the distance. Getting closer, we could identify 4-5 dorsal fins surfacing here and then. A pod of white-beaked dolphins had made its way into one of the main feeding areas. Whilst slowly approaching with the boat, we all should get surprised as dolphins we previously seen appeared to be females in the company with a calf each. What a sight! Everyone on board was just speechless about this beautiful encounter and since the dolphins stayed for quite a while close to the boat, everyone got to get a perfect view of these amazing animals.
