It was rough sea conditions when we left the harbour this morning. It is not an easy task to spot the animals in this kind of weather but luckily we managed to spot both a minke whale and a humpback whale! Another successful tour!

The wind and rough weather were not giving us any break this afternoon, but we were lucky enough to spot 2 humpback whales this time! It was a young humpback couple and we felt so happy to be able to admire these beautiful animals diving in simultaneously!

The weather gods have not been on our side here in Iceland lately and we have had to deal with quite some rough seas – today was no exception. It was bumpy but still enjoyable and just a bit more adventurous compared to a ride in smooth conditions. First, we were hoping to see a minke whale that another vessel had spotted on our way out. However, it seemed to have disappeared, we never got a look at it. So we kept searching and after an area carefully found two young humpback whales! They at first appeared to be feeding, and at some point switched into socializing mood. They were wonderful to watch, just relaxing at the surface, apparently enjoying each others company and swimming so close together that they were touching. One of them rolled on its side a few times and gently slapped its pectoral fin on the water surface again. We stayed with them for a while and had a great time watching them. Before we went home, we moved on in case there were some other animals in the area. Indeed, we spotted a group of 5-6 white-beaked dolphins. They were first jumping in the distance and then started bow-riding at our vessel and swam all around, from one side to the other. They were the cherry on top of our whale cake!
