Special Tours Announces New Partnership with Whales of Iceland Exhibition

10.Dec 2017

We at Special Tours are proud to announce a new partnership and collaboration with Whales of Iceland, the largest whale exhibition in Europe, located right next to the Old Harbor here in Reykjavík! Open since 2015, Whales of Iceland houses 23 life-sized models of all the cetacean species that have ever been spotted off the coast of Iceland, and is truly a wonder to behold. Getting up close and personal to these lifelike reproductions truly shows how massive the gentle giants that call Iceland home are! The exhibition is interactive and educational, and visitors can even experience marine life in virtual reality. The exhibition provides guided tours as well as self-guided audio tours, available for download for Android or iOS devices. There is also a coffee shop where visitors can purchase light refreshments as well as a wonderful gift shop. It is the perfect activity to complement a day of whale watching from Reykajvik, out on the Bay of Faxaflói, or even as an alternative for when the seas are too rough to go whale watching. We offer a combo tour that combines a visit to the museum and a whale watching tour in the same day!

Special Tours is now also offering a new tour called Northern Lights by Boat EXTRA, an alternative tour for when our Northern Lights by Boat tour is cancelled due to unfavorable cloud cover. Guests will take a guided tour of the Whales of Iceland exhibition, watch a beautiful documentary about the Northern Lights, then conclude with a drink at the end of the evening… plus, the opportunity to book a Northern Lights by Boat tour with us, included in the price!
