We sailed out this evening under cloudy skies aboard 2 of our boats: the Andrea, and Rósin. We had faith in the weather forecast however, which predicted completely clear skies during the tour, and above-average aurora activity. As we headed out into the darkness of Kollafjörður, the nearly-full moon shone through the clouds and the Imagine Peace Tower acted as a beacon to attract the auroras to us. Tonight took a LOT of patience from our amazing passengers – first when the clouds were slow to clear up, and then when the auroras struggled to become visible. But very late in the tour, while we were on the way back, the sky exploded! Green swirls and dancing curtains filled the skies to the north and west, giving us an amazing show that was long overdue this evening. It’s so amazing to see this natural phenomenon which most people in the world might only dream about seeing! At the end of the night, arriving just past midnight, our passengers left the boats with big smiles on their faces.
