Minke whale and white beaked dolphins

This morning we left the old harbour in Reykjavík, the course was set to the north east towards the feeding ground of the whales. We encountered fairly strong wind, and therefore also some wave movement, from the north east. As we arrived at the feeding ground of the whales, we experienced quite a lot of seabirds including some puffins. Some harbour porpoises came close to the ship, swimming close to the surface towards the ship. Then we saw several minke whales, some of them came up to the surface in pairs. A bit further to the north we found a pod of white beaked dolphins including a couple that jumped out of the sea.

On this tour the wind, and therefore the waves also stayed from the north east, had calmed down slightly. We found plenty of seabird and some harbour porpoises came close to the ship. Then some fast minke whales heading north east appeared and dived again. On the course to the east one, minke whale heading north, came up to the surface in front of the ship before diving. We continued searching the southern part of the bay until we eventually found the route back to the old harbour in Reykjavík.

Since the sightings on this tour, were brief, our passengers were offered a complimentary booking.

On the last tour today the wind, and therefore the waves had increased, but stayed from the north east. We searched the bay further to the west than earlier today. Some birdlife was seen while visibility remained good. We did see some harbour porpoises that came up to have a look at this vessel.
