Today it was a bit windy in the bay so we put on warm overalls and got ready to see some cetaceans. We encountered a nice Pod of White Beaked Dolphins travelling with a little calf. They approached our boat a few times and we spend some time with them to observe their behavior. The calf was always swimming in between two adult animals protecting the little one. They speeded up most likely hunting and getting some breakfast 🙂 while we were looking at them a Minke Whale joined us but this animal only surfaced once and then preferred to stay under water so we kept on sailing. As we sailed out further we found more White Beaked Dolphins.
On this trip we found a lot of White Beaked Dolphins again and some of them were jumping, causing a lot of splashing. They got curious and got very close to our vessel so close that we could have almost touched them. Once in awhile we saw their eyes so it turned into human watching for the dolphins. On the way back to Reykjavik we found one Minke Whale but this animal behaved just like the Minke Whale that we had on the first trip. Surfacing three time and the stayed under the water for a long time.
