Another windy day was awaiting us with rough seas – but also whales! After resisting the strong winds for an hour of sailing, we came across not one but two humpback whales! They were first traveling together, then separated, and later joined together again during the tour. Especially at the end, they were going pretty fast and it was hard to keep up with them while the boat was bouncing on the waves a bit. We still saw them raise their beautiful tails a couple of times and also had a quick look at a minke whale. This little fella passed by while we were waiting for the humpback whales to come back. A rocky but successful tour!

The wind even picked up during the day and led to a few green faces on the top deck. We headed back to the Southern part of the bay, we were had been in the morning. Suddenly, a humpback whale appeared just a few meters away from us! For a few times, the humpback surfaced just next to us, once behind and once right in front. And to make it even better, a group of about 5-6 white-beaked dolphins was surrounding it and seemded to follow the humpback. After that, the animal became more tricky to track so that we decided to move on to another humpback whale that another whale watching vessel had spotted. We sailed over to them and found not only another humpback whale, but also another group of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins that were clearly following the hummpback whale as well. Seems like the dolphins were in a very social mood today. We were able to enjoy them for a while and then said our goodbyes when we started to head back to Reykjavik with the winds in our backs.
