We sailed from the old harbour in Reykjavík, and the weather was nice!
The ocean was smooth, almost no wind, and the sun was shining. We spotted several Harbour Porpoises on the way out, and when we got out to the feeding grounds, we saw a Minke whale. Then we spotted a Humpback whale close to the boat.
We started this morning with the course to north west. The sea was calm with a slow wind from north on the bay of Faxaflói. When we were about to enter the feeding ground of the whale we found a jolly group of harbour porpoises that jumped out of the sea as they passed by front of the ship several times. We continued further west as our colleagues had located a minke whale.
A morning with our sea being smooth as a mirror, no wind and an unusual clear visibility. We shared a wonderful morning out in Faxaflói with several Minke whales and three different Harbour porpoises pods, that were uncommonly very friendly and curious.
Today, with almost a summer-like weather, we had beautiful sightings of seabirds. By the end of the tour we had very close sightings of a couple of Minke Whales and we could even smell their spout! Amazing! In the afternoon we were very lucky because we had a group of Harbor porpoises next to the boat. The tours today’s were amazing and we were very lucky !
The wind was hard in the morning but the weather changed during the day, it became a nice and sunny day. We had a full boat and everybody put on your fantastic warm overalls! Motoring out into the bay really was a lot of fun for everyone on board. Although the guide warned people that standing at the very front could get you wet when we were going fast, nobody seemed to mind and instead relished the Icelandic weather and seaspray. The variety of sea birds you can see feeding all at once in Faxafloi bay really is incredible! When we entered the feeding area of the whales we soon came across loads of diving birds including puffins, common guillemots, northern fulmars, arctic skuas, manx shearwaters, razorbills, kittiwakes and black backs gulls. We spotted several Minke whales, Harbor porpoises and White beaked dolphins during the tours. It was a sunny and funny day on the boats!!

Today we sailed out of the old harbor in Reykjavík and we had calm waters. The whole day it was very cloudy and rainy. During all the tours the big amount and variety of seabirds such as gannets, Arctic Terns and Northern Fulmars was remarkable. It seems that the waters of the bay are being very productive. We spotted during all the tours some different Minke Whales, white beaked dolphins, Puffins and a pod of Harbour Porpoises. It was a great day!!!!
This morning there was some wind from north west and following that also some wave movement from the same direction. As we headed out, the course set to north west, some four white beaked dolphins came quickly up to the surface and disappeared again. We continued and found a large gathering of almost every type of seabird that frequents the bay. Among them were arctic terns, puffin and northern gannets.
Dark calm waters in a very cloudy chilly day. Today the big amount and variety of seabirds was remarkable, it seems that the waters of the bay are being very productive. We spotted around five different Minke Whales and a pod of Harbour Porpoises.
