The BIG Whale Experience
A Whale Watching tour from Reykjavik, including a visit to the spectacular Whales of Iceland exhibition to see how big these cetaceans actually are!
While out in the bay looking at the whales, you might not fully understand how amazingly big these animals are.
Special Tours Wildlife Adventures have now partnered with Whales of Iceland, the spectacular whale exhibition, giving you the opportunity to experience the different whales found around Iceland from both land and sea. On this combo tour the admission to Whales of Iceland is included in your Whale Watching ticket so before or after your tour we recommend visiting the Whales of Iceland exhibition on the other side of the old Reykjavik harbour. The Whales of Iceland exhibition showcases 23 life-size whale models with a lot of in-depth information, interactive experiences and underwater footage of whales shown on a 8 meter long screen. A part of the exhibition focuses on conservation where the multiple threats (and their solutions) that whales face in the ocean today are showcased. The exhibition really gives you a feeling for how small we humans are compared to the ocean wildlife.
On the Whale Watching tour, you will check in at our Special Tours Ticket Office at the Old Reykjavik harbour before we sail out to Faxaflói bay where we search for the common whales in the area, such as Humpback whales, Minke whales, White-beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises. During the tour we can get a feeling of their behavior in the wild, while learning more about them from one of our expert guides. The focus of the tour is on the wildlife in the bay, unique experiences and personal service while making sure the environment is protected and respected in every way possible. In case of no sightings on our tours you are entitled to a ticket to try again for free.
This is the perfect whale watching combo tour, offering you a Big Experience of whales from both land and sea!
