This is the perfect hiking day tour out of Reykjavik. Landamannalaugar is located in the south of the Icelandic Highlands and is a remote location where the settlers of Iceland used to bath when travelling over the country. More recently it has been a favourite amongst the adventurous Icelanders wanting to go somewhere even more remote.

Landamannalaugar is an active geothermal area with steam rising from the grounds and lava fields all around. Right under the Laugahraun lava field you can soak in a natural hot pool – excellent after a day of hiking.

The hiking adventure will last for about 4 hours (8-10km). The route will take you over Laugahraun lava field, through Vondugil canyon and up to Mt. Brennisteinsalda, a multicolored peak that is highly characteristic for the area. On the way back you will walk down Graenagil (Green gorge). If time allows, we will summit the memorable Blahnukur Volcano before soaking in the hot pool in Landmannalaugar.
