Spend an afternoon in the Grandi district at Whales of Iceland and FlyOver Iceland!

Tour description

Whales of Iceland & FlyOver Iceland are located next to each other in the Grandi Harbour district, making it easy for you to spend a fun afternoon visiting and exploring both locations.

Whales of Iceland features 23 life-size models of all whales species found in Icelandic waters. You can enjoy interactive experiences, underwater footage of whales, daily live-guided tours of the museum, and our new Fin Whale Room that highlights the threats (and their solutions) that whales face today. Walking through this wonder world of soothing whale sounds, ambient underwater lighting and beach-like floors truly makes you feel like you are deep underwater to see these gentle giants. In addition to the live-guided tours at 11:00 and 15:00, the film Sonic Sea is shown at 10:30, 12:15, 14:00, and 15:45. Both are available to all visitors at no extra cost. After you have finished exploring the museum, grab a coffee and pastry at our Whale Cafe and visit the gift shop full of unique and eco-friendly products.

Just across the street from Whales of Iceland, FlyOver Iceland is a fantastic addition to your
afternoon. You will hang suspended before a 20-meter spherical screen while you are whisked away by a film that takes you on an exhilarating journey across Iceland. FlyOver Iceland is an immersive flight experience that allows you to soar over land, sea, and ice while moving with the arctic winds. The ride utilizes state-of-the-art technology to give the guest the feeling of flight. Special effects, including wind, mist and scents, combine with the ride’s motion to create an unforgettable experience. Before your flight begins, you’ll be immersed in the magic of Iceland in pre-ride events. Our flight guides, a storyteller and resident troll Sú Vitra will lead you through two unique adventures that will ignite your imagination with stories of Iceland, its people and the natural forces at work.
Select the departure time for FlyOver Iceland (you can expect to spend roughly 1 hour at FlyOver, including check-in, pre-ride events, and the FlyOver experience). The Whales of Iceland part of your booking is an open ticket, and you can use it whenever you’d like. Whales of Iceland is open from 10:00-17:00 each day.
