A slight breeze followed us out into faxafloi on our whale watching trip today but only making the smallest of waves and the sun was still shining so it promised to be a great trip!
I’m not sure how many days in a row we have started this blog by saying how fantastic the weather was and
I’m sure it´s starting to get repetitive by no….but the weather today was fantastic!!
Warm and sunny morning with flat water. We left the harbour expecting, at least, some sun bathing during the trip. Right after leaving the little islands in front Reykjavik behind we spotted a little pod of White Beaked Dolphins. Also at the distance we saw a Minke Whale, so we headed that direction. We got closer and we could see the Minke swimming totally unbothered by our presence.
This afternoon we had a beautiful ride on Rósin. Blue sky and motionless seas welcomed all the passengers in Faxaflói Bay. On the way to the feeding grounds we spotted a pod of White Beaked dolphins that playfully swam with us for some minutes. We continued heading towars the exit of the bay and around 12 miles away from the shore we spotted the blows of a Humpback Whale.
After a string of amazing days out Whale Watching in Reykjavik we were yet again blessed with perfectly calm seas and lots of whales!
Today we sailed out of the old harbour in nice sunny weather with in the afternoon some clouds. The clouds were throwing shades over the surrounding mountains giving our passengers a special feeling of what Iceland is.
Wonderful morning to start a Whale Watching Trip 🙂 The sea was calm and we had a perfect view at Snaefellsnes and it´s stunning glacier. We were hoping to find the Humpback Whales from yesterday again and sailed far out.
We left the harbour with a lot of sunshine, and headed out into Faxaflói. there was plenty of birdlife, as many seabirds were busy feeding at the surface. It was a bit quiet otherwise, but finally we saw a pod of White-beaked dolphins, they were very inquisitive, and swam up to the boat to take a look at us.
Wednesday sunny morning in Reykjavik. We headed to the bay cruising between Engey Island and Akurey Island, two of the main colonies of Puffins close to Reykjavik. How cute these little birds are! We fastly sailed towards the feeding grounds in front of Akranes.
This morning the water was calm and the sun was shinning when we went out of the bay. On our way to the feeding area of the whales we spotted some White beaked dolphins.
